We have arrived in Phoenix at UMOM. This is a womens shelter that currently houses about 170 women and children. UMOM is housed in an old Super 8 hotel. Our campground is in the back on the black top parking lot. There will be 10 of us NOMADS helping for 3 weeks. One thing we get to do is wrap Christmas presents for the children. We have to put paper over the windows so there is no peaking into the room where we wrap. Plus there are 100 volunteers coming to decorate and we have to organize the Christmas decorations for them to put up. So far it sounds like a fun.
We had an uneventful trip to Phoenix except for the flat tire we had on Wednesday. We now have a new tire jack, tire repair kit, and portable air pump. That about says it all for the flat tire. We drove by Flagstaff today and it was beautiful, snow capped mountains in front of us and desert on either side of the interstate.
Blessings,
Mark and Pam
PS In case you didn't know Angel House was awarded a $15,00 for a solar project at the orphanage. The grant is from the US embasy in Dar Salam (Tanzanias capital).
